Happy Monday, Families!
This week we are jumping head first into our study of first civilizations. In particular, the students are studying the ancient Akkadians, Babylonians, Assyrians, and Neo-Babylonians through the use of the acronym GRAPES. GRAPES stands for:
Geography--Where is it? What is the land like there?
Religion--What was the major belief system?
Achievements--What was developed or invented at this time?
Politics--What political system or government was in use?
Economics--How did people trade or use money?
Social Structures--How are people divided?
Then, the overall question, "How did these aspects make this civilization unique?"
It's SO interesting to explore these ancient civilizations and see how the same divisions, geography, religion, achievements, etc., affect how modern day civilizations also react to world events.
Have a great week, and if you're bored, maybe YOU need to hear, "Got Any Grapes?"
Sincerely,
Mrs. Tyler
